RACQ Vintage Rally
This past weekend saw a jubilee of a different kind when over 100 vintage cars, taking part in the 2012 RACQ HMC Rally, descended on the Fraser Coast.
They explored the heritage city of Maryborough, the coastal city of Hervey Bay and the Hinterland town of Bauple – home of the original macadamia!
Our very own Yolande Bromet thoroughly enjoyed the Sunday night dinner at Maryborough town hall with the RACQ clubs. She was invited to speak at the awards ceremony alongside Fraser Coast Mayor, Gerard O’Connell and the RACQ sponsor.
The rally arrived in Bauple on Monday and enjoyed a sunny lunch on the oval, while displaying their cars to the delight of both locals and visitors. They took time to explore the men’s shed, historical museum and also toured ‘the shed’ to see how our macadamias are dried and sorted.
We introduced them to the Nutmobile over a cup of freshly ground coffee and tasty macadamia treats – our trusty icon just made it into the vintage club, being a unique 1980’s model! We’re hoping to spruce him up a little and get him back on the road – feel free to show your support and ‘Name the Nutmobile’!
All in all, a ‘stylish’ time was had by all and we hope to see the vintage crew back again next year.
